1.5m is becoming the new walking standard for a reason. The extra 30cm over a 1.2m lead gives your dog enough room to walk a half-step ahead without pulling, enough slack for sniff stops without the lead going tight, and enough length to loop and walk hands-free for a stretch on a quiet path.

Still short enough for real close control when you need it — gather the slack in your hand near roads, busy crossings, or when passing other dogs.

FAQs

Q: Why 1.5m instead of 1.2m?

More room without losing control. Increasingly preferred by NZ trainers. If your dog walks slightly ahead of you and your shorter lead always feels tight, the extra 30cm makes a noticeable difference. If your dog already walks at heel, stick with 1.2m.

Q: Will the lead feel too long in town?

Not if you handle it right. Loop the slack into your hand for street walking and you've effectively got a shorter lead. Let it out in safer spaces. Most owners adjust within a few walks.

Q: Which colour suits most dogs?

Neutrals (Powder Tan, Coyote Brown, Sage Green, Black) work universally. For pops of personality, look at your dog's coat: bright accents (Magenta, Caribbean Green, Orange) pop against light coats; deep tones (Wine, Dark Green, Navy) suit dark coats.
