A slip lead does what its name suggests — slips over your dog's head and tightens gently when they pull. No buckles, no clip, no collar required. It's the lead vets, groomers, dog walkers, and trainers reach for when speed matters.

In BioThane®, the design gets a serious upgrade. The 16mm width is comfortable on a dog's neck (no rope-burn risk), the material slides smoothly through its own loop without sticking, and the whole thing is waterproof and wipe-clean. Slobber, mud, beach sand — none of it sticks.

Q: Is a slip lead safe for everyday walking?

Slip leads are safest on calm, trained dogs that don't pull hard. They work by tightening when a dog pulls, which is fine for trained dogs but can be uncomfortable for hard pullers. For pullers, we recommend a regular lead clipped to a Y-front harness instead.

Q: When is a slip lead actually useful?

Vet visits (no fiddly clip on a nervous dog), grooming, quick training sessions where you don't want to fuss with a collar, and emergency situations. It's also the go-to for rescues who don't yet have a collar fitted.

Q: How do I fit a slip lead correctly?

Slide it over your dog's head with the loop high up behind the ears (where the neck is strongest and most sensitive to feedback) — not low near the shoulders. The lead should sit just behind the jawline, not down by the chest.
