Waterproof Dog Rug — 1200D Outer, Non-Stick Lined, 100g or 200g Fill | Zeberdee
Some dogs love a snuggly fleece-lined rug. Others get tangled, hot, or hate the feeling of fleece against their coat. The New Season rug is for the second group — fully waterproof outside, smooth non-stick lining inside, and built for a sleek, hassle-free fit.
The New Season Dog Rug from Zeberdee solves a problem most dog owners only notice once they've already bought the wrong rug: fleece linings pull hair, trap heat, and feel rough against short coats. The New Season's non-stick lining is the answer — a smooth, hair-friendly interior that slides on and off without fuss, doesn't pull at the coat, and breathes better in shoulder-season weather.
The outer shell is a heavy-duty 1200D waterproof fabric — the same premium spec Zeberdee uses across their horse-cover range. "1200D" refers to the denier — basically the thickness and toughness of the fabric. At 1200 denier, you're getting a rip-resistant, fully waterproof shell that handles paddocks, kennels, dog parks and proper Kiwi rain without giving up after one season.
Pick your fill weight to match your dog's needs: 100g for autumn, spring and milder days, or 200g for proper winter cold and frosty mornings. Then choose your favourite design from the dropdown — every rug uses the same construction, just in a different colour or pattern.
Choosing your fill weight
100g fill — light to medium warmth. Best for autumn, spring, milder winter days, dogs who run warm, and short-coated breeds in milder regions (upper North Island, coastal areas). Just enough warmth to keep the chill off without overheating an active dog.
200g fill — proper winter warmth. Best for cold mornings, frost, snow, older dogs, short-coated breeds in colder regions (Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Central Plateau), and dogs that genuinely shiver. A solid winter weight without being bulky.
If you're between weights, go heavier. A heavier rug used on a milder day is fine; a lighter rug on a frosty morning isn't.
Choosing your design
Every New Season rug uses the same 1200D waterproof outer and non-stick lining — what changes is the colour and pattern. Pick your favourite from the design dropdown. Stock rotates as Zeberdee works through different horse-rug offcuts, so each design is limited — when it's gone, it's gone.
Sizing
Sizes are measured from the top of the shoulders to the base of the tail. Stand your dog square (all four feet down, head in a natural position) and measure their back length, then pick the closest size from the dropdown. Available sizes typically run small — these are designed for all dogs. If you're between sizes, size up.
Non-stick vs fleece lining — which should I choose?
Both rugs use the same 1200D waterproof outer — the lining is the only real difference, and it changes how the rug feels and behaves on your dog.
Choose non-stick (this rug) if: your dog has a short coat that hair-pulls on fleece, you want a sleeker fit, your dog runs warm, you need something easy to slip on and off, or you're using it more for weather protection than warmth.
Choose fleece-lined (our Super Cozy rug) if: your dog has a thinner coat that needs extra warmth, they get cold easily, they're older or recovering, or you want maximum snuggle factor for indoor and outdoor use.
FAQs
What does "1200D" mean and is it tough enough for my dog? 1200D refers to the denier of the waterproof outer fabric — denier measures the thickness and durability of the threads. At 1200D, you're getting heavy-duty rip-resistant material that's the same spec as premium horse turnout rugs. It easily handles paddocks, kennels, gravel, rolling around in wet grass, and the kind of rough-and-tumble most dog rugs give up on after one season.
What is a non-stick lining and why does it matter? A non-stick lining is a smooth, slippery interior fabric (rather than fleece or wool) designed to glide over your dog's coat without pulling hair, snagging, or trapping heat. It's especially good for short-coated breeds, dogs prone to hot spots, dogs that hate the feel of fleece, and anyone who's tired of brushing fur off the inside of a rug. The trade-off is less standalone warmth — that's what the fill weight is for.
Should I get the 100g or 200g fill? Choose 100g for autumn, spring, milder winter days, or dogs that run warm. Choose 200g for proper winter mornings, frost, colder regions, older dogs, or short-coated breeds that genuinely feel the cold. Both have the same 1200D waterproof outer and non-stick lining — the fill is what changes the warmth level. If you're unsure, go heavier — you can leave a warm rug off on a mild day, but you can't add fill on a cold one.

Care & Safety
Sponge off mud and grass when dry — handles most cleaning. For a full wash, use a cold gentle cycle (no fabric softener — it kills waterproofing) and air-dry. Don't tumble. Check fit regularly on growing dogs. Remove if your dog is overheating, scratching at it, or chewing the trim.
