BioThane® 3m Long Line (Recall training line) — No Handle | 19mm Black & Brass
Three metres of no-nonsense control for dogs who pull hard and pull often. This is the 19mm BioThane® long line — a step up from our standard 16mm, built for bigger, stronger dogs 🐾
Same freedom, tougher build.
If your dog's the reason you upgraded to a thicker collar and a heavier lead, this long line's for you. The 19mm width gives you more BioThane® in hand — more surface to grip, more resistance to stretch under a hard lunge, and a line that stays put rather than twisting when a big dog puts real weight behind a sprint.
Built for no-fuss handling
No handle means no loop to snag on gorse, fence wire, or your dog's own legs when they're flat out chasing a scent. The line trails clean behind them through long grass and scrub, and coils away flat when you're done — no bulky end to wrestle into your bag.
Solid brass hardware
The trigger snap is solid brass — heavier and corrosion-resistant, and built to handle the extra load a 19mm line and a strong dog put through it. Brass will develop a light patina over time (that's normal), but it won't rust, even after regular beach or river walks.
Built to last, not to babysit
Genuine BioThane® coated webbing means this line doesn't care about mud, salt water, or a season left in the boot. No conditioning, no oiling — just a wipe with a damp cloth and it's ready for the next walk.
Hand-made in Te Awamutu, Waikato, in Black with Brass hardware.
FAQ's
Q: What's the difference between the 16mm and 19mm BioThane® long line?
The 19mm is a wider, heavier-duty width — better suited to bigger or stronger dogs who put real pull through their lead. The 16mm suits most medium - large dogs and is easier to coil and carry; the 19mm trades a bit of that packability for extra strength and grip.
Q: Is 19mm overkill for my dog?
If your dog's under about 30kg and doesn't lean hard into the lead, the 16mm will feel more manageable in hand. The 19mm comes into its own with larger breeds, strong pullers, or working dogs where line strength matters more than weight.
Q: Why choose no handle over a handle?
Without a handle, the line has no loop to catch on scrub, gates, or fence lines — safer and smoother for off-lead training in the bush or on farmland. If you want a grab point.
Q: Will the brass hardware rust or tarnish?
Brass won't rust, but it can develop a light surface patina with regular exposure to salt water — that's a cosmetic surface reaction, not corrosion, and it doesn't affect strength. A quick rinse after beach walks keeps it looking newer for longer.
Q: Is this long line suitable for recall training?
Yes — 3m is the standard starting length for recall work, giving your dog enough room to test their recall while you can still gather line quickly if needed. The 19mm width adds extra confidence for owners with strong or large dogs.
Q: How do I clean a BioThane® long line?
Wipe it down with a damp cloth — mud, sand, and salt water lift straight off. No leather conditioner, no oils, no special products needed. That's the core appeal of BioThane® over rope or leather for long lines.

Care & Safety Note
Wipe clean with a damp cloth — no oiling or conditioning needed. Brass hardware may develop a light patina with regular saltwater exposure; rinse after beach walks to keep it looking its best. Not chew-proof — please don't leave your dog unattended with their lead. Always use with a well-fitted harness or collar and check hardware regularly for wear.
